Tractor Trolley Mishap in Telangana Village Leaves 4 Dead, 8 Hurt

Hyderabad: Three agricultural workers and a 14-year-old girl accompanying them died, and eight others sustained injuries, when a tractor trolley overturned in Jagtial district on Tuesday evening.

The deceased were identified as Mangalapuram Lalita (40), Sampangi Sayamma (35), Peddi Reddy Gangu (55), and Thungena Vaishnavi (14), all residents of Mogilipet village in Mallapur mandal of Jagtial district.According to Metpalli circle inspector V Anil Kumar, 15 agricultural workers from Mogilipet village had gone to turmeric fields near Rathnapur village in the same mandal for work on Tuesday morning.

 The accident occurred as they were returning home after completing the day’s work.At around 6 pm, on the outskirts of Mogilipet, the tractor trolley overturned due to negligent driving and plunged into a roadside ditch adjoining agricultural fields. Villagers rushed to the spot and pulled the injured from under the overturned trolley.”The tractor and trolley overturned, and the trolley fell on the victims. Three women workers died on the spot. Nine injured were shifted to hospitals in Metpalli, Jagtial and Karimnagar for treatment..

One of them, a 14-year-old girl, was declared brought dead at Metpalli. The remaining eight are out of danger,” the CI said.Based on the victims’ statements, police said rash and negligent driving was the cause of the accident. A case was registered against the tractor driver, Gangadhar of Mogilipet, under Sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 125(a) (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused is absconding.
