The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast “heavy rainfall and thunderstorms” at isolated places across Andhra Pradesh for the next seven days, until August 19.South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) is set to experience “extremely heavy rainfall” on Wednesday, with heavy to very heavy rain also likely over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, and Rayalaseema.
Further, the IMD forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in several parts of Arunachal Pradesh over the next 24 hours. According to the weather office, Anjaw, East Kameng, Pakke Kessang, and Papum Pare districts are very likely to experience very heavy rain, while Kurung Kumey district may witness heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning.
The alert is effective till Thursday morning (August 14, 2025.)The said a low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal is likely to trigger heavy rain with thunderstorms in Odisha’s Koraput and Malkangiri districts on Wednesday (August 13, 2025) and Thursday (August 14, 2025).
The weather office has issued an Orange warning (be prepared to take action) for heavy rain, thunderstorms with lightning, and gusty surface winds reaching 30–40 kmph in Koraput and Malkangiri districts till 8.30 a.m. on Thursday (August 14, 2025).
The (IMD) has forecasted that Telangana will receive heavy to very heavy rains in the next 72 hours across the state from Wednesday (August 13, 2025). Hyderabad under red alert as heavy rains cause waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and increased rainfall across the city.
Certain areas in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim have a ‘low to moderate’ flash flood risk, with ‘very heavy’ rainfall expected today in few watersheds and neighbourhoods, the IMD said.
